NCC Announces Winter Cave Closures for 2015-2016

On May 4th, 2015, the northern long‐eared bat (Myotis septentrionalis) was listed as threatened by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.

As a threatened species, it is illegal to disturb, harass or otherwise harm individuals of this species. It is also against federal and state law to enter caves and mines identified as northern long‐eared bat hibernation sites between October 1st and April 30th.

All NCC caves, except those on the Sellecks preserve, are listed as northern long-eared hibernation sites.
