General Discussions: (action items)
· Camp Coordinator position- will need this position for the camps that want to use NCC property, especially if we get Clarksville. The need is for insurance, trip reports, scheduling etc. This does not need to be a person local to the caves. Addis to word a motion and send to Warner for approval for next board meeting.
· Release forms will be put on the NCC web page. Hay and Folsom to send to Berg.
· National Cave and Karst Management Symposium Fall 2005 – bid has been accepted, people asking to help. Warner to bring a previous program to help the Board get up to date on the NCKMS.
· Discussion on Warner hosting a cave management workshops to be held in West Virginia in 2004. West Virginia Cave Conservancy will host and NCKMS also want to be a sponsor for this event. Warner sees this as more of the volunteers, land trusts, locals that are involved in cave management. Addis /Warner to do motion for September Board meeting on whether NCC wants to be involved or co-host with WVCC.
· Spring 2003 NRO insurance issue was resolved by the NSS Board at Convention.
· Clarksville Cave acquisition: issues on land lock parcel, easement or titled land to road, forever wild. Porter will check with Alberts, Engel will check with the Albany County Land Conservancy on how they handle land lock issues, Hay and Engel to check on the Town rules, Levinson will send draft management plan to NSF by September 1st (deadline) to apply for grant.
· Ella Armstrong: proposal has been submitted for the NCC to purchase one acre of land that includes the cave, NCC would pay for survey and attend as many town subdivision meetings as possible. Waiting for response from seller.
· Knox Cave: access to the parking area might be limited later in season due to road construction. Porter stated that time for a cleanup at Knox. Armstrong was looking to set up another cleanup. Date was set for September 21. One issue is the concrete pad that makes it hard to get a foothold on the ladder on the one step.
· Armstrong spoke with road crew informing them of Ella Armstrong cave near the road so they do not fill in or damage.
